1: How far is the planet Mercury away from the sun ?
This is the closest planet in our solar system to the sun,the average distance 58 million km.

2: How did mercury get its name ?
Like all planets Mercury is named after one of the roman gods, which were based on the gods worshipped by the Ancient Greeks.

3: Why doesn't mercury have at ring around it
Unfortunly,Mercury could never get rings like other planets.That is because it's to close to the sun. The powerful solar winds blast out from the sun, and would melt and destroy any ice rings.

4: How big is Mercury ?
The planet Mercury is not very big, it has a diameter
of about 4880 km. Which is only about a third of the size of earth.

5: Does Mercury have any moons ?
Althought most of the planets in the solar system posses multiply moons. Mercury is one of the few planets which has no moons nor satellites captive within it's gravity well.

6: What is mercury made of ?
Mercury is one of the rockey planets. Mercury's core makes up 75 % of the planets diameter. Mercury is 70 % iron which is more than any other planets. The iron core is covered by a shell of rock.

7: How old is mercury ?
Mercury is about 4.6 billion years old. However no one really knows for certain. The age of the planets of the solar system is simply an educated guess
